Hashtag #MaybeHeDoesnHitYou Mengetengahkan Isu Penderaan Terhadap Wanita
Hampir 3 bulan sudah kita lalui untuk 2017 tetapi isu penderaan domestik masih dianggap sebagai taboo untuk dibincangkan secara terbuka walaupun isu ini sangat besar.
Mengikut statistik Pertubuhan Pertolongan Wanita (Women’s Aid Organisation, WAO) pula daripada tahun 2000 hingga 2014 jumlah laporan penderaan domestik berjumlah sebanyak 51,379 kes penderaan domestik dan angkanya meningkat setiap tahun.
Tahun lepas sahaja daripada bulan Januari hingga Oktober, 4000 kes penderaan domestik telah dilaporkan di seluruh negara mengikut laporan Jabatan Kecemasan dan Trauma Hospital Kuala Lumpur.
Statistik tahunan WAO pada tahun 2015 pula menunjukkan yang jenis penderaan domestik yang lazim adalah penderaan dari segi psikologi (100%), diikuti dengan fizikal (85.9%) dan kewangan (57.6 %).
Kajian ini pula menunjukkan yang 95% pendera yang mendera pasangan mereka secara fizikal juga akan mendera mereka secara psikologi juga. Beberapa orang wanita di laman media sosial Twitter memulakan hashtag #MaybeHeDoesnHitYou untuk membawa kesedaran kepada isu penderaan terhadap wanita.
Hashtag ini membantu mengetengahkan kepercayaan bahaya bahawa kes penderaan hanya akan diambil kira atai dianggap bahaya apabila faktor fizikal digunakan. National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) juga melaporkan 7 daripada 10 wanita yang pernah mengalami penderaan psikologi menunjukkan simptom PTSD dan/atau kemurungan.
